Theatre is alive at Garfield as students present their work to enthusiastic audiences. Garfield High School has a long-standing reputation for its outstanding and daring musical theatre and dramatic productions. Past productions include RENT, Legally Blonde, West Side Story, Hairspray, and Chicago. The productions are truly student produced. Students build the set, design the posters, prepare and run the lighting, and sew costumes under the direction of Garfield Theater Department head Stewart Hawk, aided by Carol Burton, Choir Director, directing the music. While tickets and concession sales cover much of the cost of putting on a show, the theatre department relies on the support of volunteers and contributions from the community and local businesses to purchase supplies and equipment needed to make the theatre productions successful. Please help us continue to provide invaluable educational experiences for our students and quality entertainment for the community.
